7 ways to keep yourself mentally fit during the lockdown

As people around the world self-isolate because of COVID-19, factors like anxiety, a lack of social interaction or outdoor time and economic stressors can lead to mental health challenges. During such a pandemic it becomes extremely vital to keep yourself mentally fit, so that you have a better chance of fighting the novel coronavirus.


Here are some of the tips you can follow to stay healthy and keep yourself mentally fit during the lockdown.

1. Organise your thoughts

The first thing is to acknowledge what you feel and to understand that what you’re feeling is absolutely normal. It’s completely okay to feel anxious and nervous during these times, it’s okay to feel lonely at times. Organise your thoughts, once you accept what you’re going through, it becomes easy for you to find a solution to it.

2. Set a routine

Once you have organised your thoughts, the next step is to set up a routine for yourself. Decide your wake up and sleep time, decide your meal time, work time and other important events, organise your day well in advance. This will provide you mental stability, you know well in advance what needs to be done and how it should be done. This will also make you crystal clear with your daily activities and tasks and will help your mind to be prepared for such things.

Don’t underestimate the power of yoga and meditation, it is scientifically proven that they provide uncountable health benefits to your body. 4. Eat Healthy

Plan your meals, add nutrients in your diet, if possible, prefer organic foods as they are a better option and are healthier. Keep yourself hydrated, avoid junk food, practice healthy eating habits as your food choice have a direct impact over you thought process and over your mental health.

5. Be productive – learn something new

Mind stays more sharper and active when you try something different, something unique; this can be as small as learning a new word to learning a new language. This will keep your mind alert and will also boost your self-confidence level, you will automatically start feeling more energetic throughout the day.

6. Get some ‘Me-Time’

We know you guys are already on a break, but still, it’s important to get yourself a have a Me-Time, go for a walk in your garden or terrace and talk to yourself, do things which you love the most, start reading a book, if you love cooking then try out a new recipe, pamper yourself- give your body the break it deserves.

Enjoy your family time, get to know each other more, play indoor games together, talk to each other, communicate what you feel also stay connected with your friends virtually, share memes or memories whatever you feel like and most importantly enjoy these days, create a positive environment around you and be happy.
